Research Paper: Note Cards
Note Cards

1.
Use note cards (3x5, white, lined). Use ink.
2.
Do not put your own opinions or conclusions on note cards.
3.
Facts of common knowledge need not be documented.

(Rule of thumb: If you have read the same information in several sources, it is probably common knowledge). When in doubt, document.

4.
Statements which are controversial or contain little-known facts must be documented.
5.
Put one quote or one factual grouping on each card. If the information could go in different places in your paper, use separate cards for each grouping.
